Independence Day 2017

71st Independence Day was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and great patriotic spirit in Kshetra School on the 15 of August. All the students appeared in white uniform. Some of them were wearing tri-colour badges or flags on their shirts while others were holding flags in their hands. 

The school assembly began with prayer, Vandemataram and pledge. Then some students in mellifluous voice sang a flag song which tells the meaning of three colours and significance of Asoka Chakra.  Flag hoisting was done with heart full of reverence. 

Students gave speeches, performed skits and sang songs. Especially UKG children who dressed as Bharat Matha and some national leaders were a special attraction. All kudos to the teachers who prepared the kids well for the program. 

Sweets were distributed. All went home with a great feeling.

Four Prestigious Houses of Kshetra School

There are four houses in Kshetra School, namely-

1. Harry House : It represents Knowledge. Colour of the house is Red.

Harry is the hero of Harry Potter novels. He is an intelligent boy. That is why the house on his name represents knowledge. `K` is the first consonant in `Kshetra`.

2. Charlie House : It represents Sincerity. Colour of the house is Blue.

Charlie Brown is a famous character in Peanuts cartoon strip created by Charles Schultz. He is an innocent boy who tries to do things as much as he can. Sincerity is the marked feature of his character. `S` in Sincerity is the second consonant of `Kshetra`.

2. Winnie House : It represents Hard Work. Colour of the house is Yellow.

Winnie is the most lovable character in Christopher Robbins Stories. Winnie is fond of  honey. He works very very hard to get is daily dose of honey. So the house on his name represents Hard Work. `H` in hard work is the third consonant of `Kshetra`.

4. Mowgli House : It represents Training. Colour of the house is Green.

Mowgli is the hero of Jungle Book novels. He is trained about the ways of the jungle by Baloo and Bagheera. So the house on Mowgli`s name represents training. `Tr` are the last two consonants of `Kshetra`. 

Knowledge, Sincerity, Hard Work and Training are important ingredients for the success of any individual. Hence these four thing are incorporated in the houses of Kshetra School. 

Some Special Moments

28th January 2017 is one of the special days for Kshetra School. Some distinguished guests from the USA visited the school and spent their valuable time with the management, staff and students of our school. Our students tried to show a bit of India to them through a couple of cultural programmes. Hours flew like seconds and it soon became time for them to move on to next destination on their itinerary. They must have seen many number of schools and come across thousands of students like our little ones, but the way they patted on the backs of the kids and appreciated them for every small piece of performance they tried to do... stole our hearts.  Our big thanks to everyone present.

1. Mr. Ravi Kurumety - Engineer. Currently working in IT as Chief Information Officer. He was born in Vizianagaram and emigrated to Us long back.  
2. Mr. David Kaplan - Attorney. He is a second generation Rotarian. His father is one of the founding members of the club in  1949 
3. Dr. Joy Miksic - Scientist with a PhD in BioChemistry
4. Mrs. Lynn Fleisher - Attorney
5. Mr. Mark Million - Financial Analyst at a very large Electricity distribution company
6. Mrs. Eileen Million - Financial Services - Home Loan Officer
7. Dr. Kameswara Rao Kancherla - Retired Civil Engineer. Living in USA since 1972
8. Dr. Prakash Kancherla - Retired Pediatrician.  Living in USA since 1974
9. Mrs Suseela Yalamarthy - Management & Real Estate Investments
10. Mr. Sri Kakarlapudi Vasu - Business Man
11. Mr. Imran Khan
12. Mr. Musthafa

One of the guests Mr. Ravi Kurumety garu, on reaching the USA shared his thoughts about their visit and our school through e-mail. His words need special mention, hence I am quoting them here with his kind permission.

We returned to US on Feb 5. We all thoroughly enjoyed our trip to India.  We were there just 2 short weeks but covered a lot of ground and got a chance to meet many wonderful people like yourself and got a chance to see all the great work that is being done. The biggest take aways for all of us were that there is so much need in India. However, there is also a lot of hope and optimism created by people that are eagerly engaged in helping the society around them.  Kshetra School is just one example of this.  We would be very interested in getting future updates as you continue to grow and improve the school.
