1952 నుంచి 1962 వరకూ స్వతంత్ర్య భారతదేశానికి మొదటి ఉపరాష్ట్రపతిగా, ఆ తరువాత 1962 నుంచి 1967 వరకూ రెండవ రాష్ట్రపతిగా ఉన్న శ్రీ సర్వేపల్లి రాధాకృష్ణన్ గొప్ప రాజనీతిజ్ఞుడే కాక భారతదేశ తత్వశాస్త్రాన్ని ఔపోశన పట్టిన పండితుడు కూడా. అద్వైత వేదాంతం గురించి ఎన్నో గ్రంధాలు వ్రాశారు ఈయన. 1954లో రాధాకృష్ణన్‌కు భారతరత్న పురస్కారం లభించింది. ఇదేకాక ఆయన జీవితకాలంలో ఎన్నో సత్కారాలు అందుకొన్నారు. రాధాకృష్ణన్ రాష్ట్రపతి అయిన తరువాత ఆయన విద్యార్థులూ, అభిమానులూ రాధాకృష్ణన్ పుట్టినరోజుని జరుపుతామని కోరినప్పుడు, `సెప్టెంబర్ 5 వ తారీకుని నా పుట్టిన రోజుగా కాకుండా ఉపాద్యాయ దినోత్సవంగా జరుపుకొంటే నాకు సంతోషం,` "Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5th is observed as Teachers' Day." అని అన్నారట. అప్పటి నుంచి ప్రతీ సంవత్సరం ఆ తారీకు నాడు ఉపాద్యాయ దినోత్సవంగా జరుపుకోవడం ఆనవాయితీగా వస్తుంది. తెలుగు బ్రాహ్మణుల ఇంట జన్మించిన రాధాకృష్ణన్ అంతర్జాతీయ ఖ్యాతిని అందుకోవడం తెలుగు వాళ్ళగా మనందరికీ కూడా ఎంతో గర్వకారణం.

ఈ సంవత్సరం సెప్టెంబర్ 5వ తారీకు వినాయక చవితి కావడంతో స్కూల్‌కి శలవు. అందుకే సెప్టెంబర్ 6న క్షేత్ర స్కూల్ ఉపాద్యాయినీ ఉపాద్యాయులకి విద్యార్థుల చేతుల మీదుగా సత్కారం అందించడం జరిగింది. సెప్టెంబర్ 5 యొక్క ప్రత్యేకత, సర్వేపల్లి రాధాకృష్ణన్ జీవిత విశేషాలూ, గురువుల యొక్క గొప్పతనం ప్రతీ విద్యార్థికీ తెలియాచేసే ప్రయత్నం జరిగింది.

From small beginnings
come great things.
